So who are we and why are we in a position to help you?

Hi, my name is Pedro and I’m a small animal board certified internist currently working in private practice in a multi-specialty practice in Massachusetts. My wife is an oncology resident.


Between the both of us, we've been through a lot in the veterinary world. It's now time to share those experiences with you!


Here's a synopsis on my background:

    I was born and raised in Portugal, and went to vet school there. After graduation, I worked in private practice for a year, and then moved to the United States for a small animal rotating internship at Washington State University. I didn't match the first year I applied for residencies and stayed at WSU as a Community Practice clinician the following year.

    After moving across country in 2012 to start my residency in Small Animal Internal Medicine residency at Cornell University, I achieved Board Certification through the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine (ACVIM) in 2015.

    From Cornell, I joined the Internal Medicine department at Michigan State University (MSU) as an Assistant Professor for one year, then moved on to work at a private practice in New York and from there to Massachusetts.

    I’m currently a member of the ACVIM rating committee for the Internal Medicine specialty exam and a former member of the ACVIM rating committee for the General exam. I've also been part of the internship selection committee at Cornell and the internal medicine residency selection committee at MSU.

    I enjoy all aspects of Internal Medicine, but am particularly interested in Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Hematology. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, outdoor activities and traveling.
